13. Band Of Horses “Life On Earth”

14. Cee-Lo Green“What Part Of Forever”

15. Howard Shore“Jacob’s Theme”

The list was released via myspace over the course of the day and has already riled quite a few people. Twilight-haters are believed to be fuming over such good bands being used in a movie franchise as big as this:

“It’s weird how such an obnoxious, mainstream , over-exposed movie franchise goes out of their way to pick really subtle , unknown Hipster bands for their soundtracks.”

quotes one unknown individual on Perez Hilton’s comment thread. Personally I think its great that some really good bands are getting a chance to shine and make some money out of what they love doing. It really grates me how pretentious some people can be especially when anything remotely successful, popular or mainstream is involved. If people like it, then these people immediately don’t. Which when you think about it is petty and childish.

I loved the Twilight books and enjoy watching the films, I’m not gonna be dissuaded any other way just because they are too ‘mainstream’ for some and as for the soundtrack I’m loving the choices and can’t wait to see how the songs are incorporated into the forthcoming film.

How will it end?

Lost Tv Show ReviewAs an avid fan of the hit TV series ‘Lost’ I will be sad when it’s all over. Lost will last be gracing US screens May 23rd where it will be given an epic farewell on the network channel ABC. The two-hour finale will be slotted around a two-hour pre-show and an hour special Jimmy Kimmel late night show afterwards where the cast will be guests. So five hours dedicated to Lost, a bit too much? Definitely not! The producers have also put in speculation that they will have three alternate final scenes to show.

For us Brits we only have to wait until May 28th in order to see the climatic ending to the much-loved show on Sky One. Entertainment President for ABC has announced that Lost will conclude in a ‘highly anticipated and shocking finale’ feeling that: ‘this was the only way to give Lost a proper creative conclusion.’ So Losties get you tissues ready for what’s going to be one hell of an ending.

Shameless celebrity pet owners

If any of you saw ‘Fern Cotton meets Paris Hilton’ (or whatever it was called) you would have seen Paris’s so called ‘dog house’. For those of you that didn’t have a look below and weep.

Okay I find this wrong on so many levels.

For starters this pink-infused doggie mansion cost Mz Hilton a whoping $325,000. Now for us brits thats about £200,000. Or in other words one hell of a lot of money. Most people wouldn’t even come close to earning a measly quarter of that in a whole year! Let alone even comprehend the need for dogs to have this much spent on them. Surely an extravagance such as this could be surely be spared and the money go to something worthwhile? There’s splashing out and then there is stupidly splashing out (not to mention the fact that this was openly splashed over Paris’s Twitter page talk about modesty and humility? but I guess those are terms lost on most celebrity figures.)

A 'selection' of Paris's pooches showing off their creepy attire

Secondly doesn’t a dog just want to be a dog? you know, chase their tails, chew on a stick, play some fetch, try to sneak onto the sofa when no one is looking, sniff doggie bums all day? you get the picture. But seriously, It makes you wonder how much time and attention the dogs of celebrities really receive. A dog is for life not to shove in a glorified doll’s house and dress up in skirts and twinkly pink things. It really riles me how they have become a fashion accessory for the rich and I know, I know this is a common debate/rant etc but I was having a browse on the old internet and it really got to me how these owners use their dogs as toys.

Paris Hilton’s creepy little dog villa houses her her 17 chihuahuas and one Pomeranian. We get the lifestyle of someone like Paris Hilton shoved in our faces everyday and it doesn’t really appear to be one with a lot of free time, free time to be giving her 18 dogs the attention they deserve. More disgustingly Paris has been known to get rid of her expensive little pets when they no longer ‘excite her’ treating them as disposable. PETA issued a statement to her highness just before Christmas telling her to stop collecting dogs like trendy souvenirs. Ouch. You can read more here.

Now I better stop before I get a little over-passionate and rant away for another two hours. Hopefully celebrities will realise that dressing up their miniature dogs will not make them look trendy only cruel and tasteless. As for me I’ll stick to a good old boarder collie any day 🙂

Did we really want to know that?

Celebrities are everywhere, and I mean everywhere. We see them on our TV screens, in magazines, on billboards whilst waiting for the bus, on the actual bus itself  and now more than ever the internet is swarming with them. We cannot escape the drama that is associated with a celebrity ‘personality,’ but quite often we don’t want to escape it. See I’m not gonna claim some higher ground here and fake a disdain for all things celebrity, I love reading gossip magazines and I do watch those trashy shows that follow a spoiled celeb around whilst they buy the groceries and show us just how ‘normal’ they really are (yeah right) but all things considered I think somewhere a line has to be drawn.

Nicole Ritchie with another interesting tweet...

When twitter appeared on the scene celebrities were quick to jump on the bandwagon, tweeting about their music/show/book/product or just their lives in general.

Twitter allows a whole new dimension of interaction with most celebs tweeting personally and scrapping the publicist who would normally adopt the job of addressing fans. They are all too eager to tell us what they had for breakfast, who their latest crush is or if their relationship is falling apart. Not more than 10 hours ago we have Paris Hilton tweeting:”In bed watching “The Office” So funny and relaxing!”

But do we want to know every detail of our idols lives? Isn’t part of being a ‘celebrity’ to do with that aura of fame and mystery? Now I’m a massive Katy Perry fan. I’ll put that on the table now. I love how she looks, sings, her whacky outfits and quirky interviews. But. After following her on Twitter I’m sad to say my opinion has slid. Recently Katy began seeing British comedian Russell brand and before we knew it an engagement was announced, juicy gossip for those with a hunger for all things celebrity.

Katy Perry's quirky style won me over

But this was no secret romance, all was/is revealed and I mean ALL.@Katyperry tweets a few days ago: “♋? @rustyrockets” (rustyrockets referring to British ladies man Russel, Katy’s fiancé)(♋ referring to, I can only assume, the sexual position) And just yesterday “Bet @rustyrockets would like a HJ with these nails… : P” I’m sure we can guess what HJ stands for.

Now before you assume I’m a prudish person, I’m not! I just preferred it when Katy Perry was a mysterious celeb to me, and not just another girl going out with a guy and stirring things up a little with some cheap dirty talk on a site millions of people use. It really lowered my opinion of her, and just made me think. Do we really want everything to be laid bare? Or were things better when the people we admired or followed in the limelight attempted even an ounce of privacy? – Just food for thought.

Katy and Russel share all on Twitter

Live lounge love

I love a good cover. One that makes you fall in love with an old favourite or listen to a song in a whole new way

Okay, so my favourite live lounge cover so far is Paramore’s version of ‘Use somebody’ (probably because I am just a teeny bit in love with Hayley) but here’s a few of my other favourites : )

5. The Stereophonic’s with a great acoustic version of ‘Best of you’ by Foo Fighters

4. Tinchy Strider taking on a Beyonce/JLS medly  with ‘Sweet dreams vs. Beat again’

3.The notorious N’dubz covering The Script’s ‘Man who can’t be moved’ (It’s a grower!)

2. WARNING not likely to be everyone’s cup of tea but as an Enter Shikari fan I quite liked their version of Kid Cudi’s ‘Day and Night’

1. And last but not least, Just Jack does Rihanna’s ‘Live your life’ (you know the one that samples O-Zone’s ‘Dragostea din tei’ – which I ashamedly admit I love)

and then I also heard this today, Ellie Goulding (the one with the beautiful voice) covering ‘Sweet Disposition’ by Temper Trap. Not sure what to think really, but definitely mesmerising. What are your thought?
